Trans Am won't start - Help!
Trans Am won't start - Help!
My 1992 Trans Am has decided not to start anymore. The battery reads that it is charged and working. Everything electrical works when I put the key in, but it won't turn over. Should I assume that the starter is the problem?
Also, where is the starter located in this engine? I am new to owning Trans Ams and have only had this one for the past 2 months.
Thanks for any help!

Does it click and not turn over, or nothing. Also, is your security light on?

Could be your VATS (security)
Loose connections to your starter or even on battery.
The starter is located on the passenger rear bottom side of the engine.

I assume that this the first time it has failed to start. If it is an automatic, you might try to move the shift lever to neutral and try to start, or move the lever to Drive and back to Park to make sure the neutral safety switch is engaging properly. The switch allows the engine to start in either Park or neutral. Mine does this once in awhile, need to adjust it one of these days. Dave

Thank you all for the replies!
I will check under the engine for the starter and see if the wires are loose. I'll also try putting it into neutral. Maybe I can figure it out.
Yes, this is the first time it has failed to start. Up until now, it has been as reliable as the day is long
