Car just shut off while driving.
Well I was giving my car a little open up last night and as I'm accelerating in second the car just shuts down. I had nothing working. I had electrical power but nothing else. After letting it sit for a second, I tried to start it back up and it seemed it had no gas really. It turned over for a second then died. PLease help guys.

also could a bad torque converter cause it to not start?

Re: Car just shut off while driving.
Did you confirm that there was gas?
-Dead battery
-Fried alternator (you can take both into your local parts store to have them checked for free usually)
-Busted fuses
-Clogged fuel filter (drivers side between the rear floorpan and the rear tire. be careful taking this off as the fittings could be rusted and will break the fuel line if too much force is applied. Soak these bolts in PB blaster overnight if they won't give.)
-Dead fuel pump (there are posts here that tell you how to check to see if your pump is priming, search for them), or you could also see if you have fuel at the fuel rail. On the passenger rail there is a schraeder valve, depress it with a screwdriver and see if fuel comes squirting out. Try this with the key in the 'on' position. No fuel = no pumpy worky.
Those are a few things that come to mind right away.

Try the schraeder valve on the fuel rail then. Better yet, see if you can rent or buy a fuel pressure gauge from autozone or napa, etc. See what your pressure is with the key in the on position.

Re: Car just shut off while driving.
Gauge is much safer and better. Squirting still occurs even as low as 6psi. That's way too low to run the engine but it'll still squirt out the schraeder.

Should be between 45 to 50psi. Gauge goes on the fuel rail on the passenger side, there is a valve there that sticks out. It is located closer to the rear of the fuel rail.
