Appears to be part of the emissions equipment.

Re: What is this on my engine?????????

oh ok.
is there any kind of exhaust manifold that will fit with the stock exhaust system? one with out thos metal tubes sticking out.
its just ugly when you open the hood. clutters the engine. looks nasty.

if i took that air pump thinger out and all thos hoses and stuff attached to it. and did bend back thos tubes. will the engine still run properly?
its not really doing anything i dont htink.
there was a long metal tube running from that air pump thingyer all the way to the CAT. but i got my exhaust done and i had it removed ( no aircare where i live) so its like pumping out air or something at the end of the tube.
i have no idea.

its just banding around and stuff when i drive. (i want it gone!!)

Re: What is this on my engine?????????

If your smog pump has been removed already then you don't need any of that junk. As a matter of fact, what I did to my '86 was removed the smog pump and the factory manifolds and just installed headers on my engine. Certain headers don't have the bung for the O2 sensor but I just took mine to a shop that works on cars and showed them where I needed the bung welded and they just burned a hole where the O2 sensor goes and welded a threaded bung to that hole so I could screw the O2 sensor in.

If you insists on staying with manifolds, you can get rid off all the junk on top and whatever lines you cut going to the manifolds you will need to close off so you don't have an exhaust leak.

Re: What is this on my engine?????????

that is your AIR diverter valve... will pump air to your cat or to the exhaust... do you need to pass emissions?

Re: What is this on my engine?????????

the smog pump is located under your air compressor, if you remove that either get a smog pump delete pulley, or get a smaller belt, removing that black box and all the hoses won't hurt anything, but will make your engine bay look cleaner, and for those plugs just unplug them and cut the wires or hide them, I didn't have any codes pop up after i did this, then i went to a carb and stopped using my ECM

1. no, it will just produce more emissions, doesn't matter for you
2. same answer as above
3.the plugs just tell the diverter where to pump the air, either to the cat, or to the atmospere.
4.as spina said to take it off you will either need a pulley or run a shorter belt. if you want to run a shorter belt, there are a couple threads that will show you how to route it.

ill check up on the small belts.
i found one an article that shows you where to place the belt if you remove the smog pump.
