Car won't turn over :/
Hey everyone, this is my problem. I have an 87 iroc with a l98. I have hardly had any problems with this car with the exception of basic maintenence and care. It started out about 4 days ago when I took the car out for the first time in about a week and a half of it sitting (it is my daily driver btw), the car ran real bad and the check engine light came on, so I pulled over shut it off popped the hood to check and see if any thing visable was out of place but no nothing. I closed the hood started it up, took it to a closed street and blew it out alittle bit and it started running good again, so I figured it just had been sitting and needed to be run alittle. It ran great for the next couple days, so I felt confident in taking it on a 2 hour trip to NJ then 2 hours back home. Well about an hour b4 the trip I was about to leave applebees parking lot after getting some food with a buddy of mine and when I went to start it, I got a whine almost as if the started had caught on something and a back fire that let out a puff of smoke from under the hood. It happ'd real quick so I shut it off and turned it back on, started up fine and ran great after, so I looked passed this too. I took it on the 2hour trip and ran awaesome, great drive and had alot of fun. Before I got bakc on the tpke to come home I filled up with 93 from a sunoco(pretty sure) hopped on and drove home and no problems at all. Awesome! Then this morning I woke up went to the gym came home showered and when I went to go to work I went to start the car, it started then dropped RPM's and bogged out, I go to start it again it sputters/backfires and lets out a puff of smoke and would not turn over at all. I popped the hood I was getting spark at the distributor btu that was really all I checked for since I needed to catch a ride to work and couldnt really get involved with it. Now I am on my break and figured I'd post up to see if any1 experienced any similar problems and could share some advice with me. I plan on spending tomorrow tryign to figure it out (testign for spark, fuel, pressure, make sure the pump is working properly, etc) Sorry the post is so long but I wanted to give as much detail abotu what happened and what led to teh problem. I would appreciate any help and i'll keep everyone updated.
Thanks John

I haven't hooked it up to a scanner. and i'm not sure what you mean by state of tune? I did plugs, wires, cap, rotor about 6months ago if thats what you mean.

Scanner?!?
Grab a bloody paperclip and have at it.
State of tune is how 'fit' is the car overall? Tune, f/p, compression, ignition sys, etc.
With what you have provided thus far I could go a ton of different ways to try and lead you to tell me some relevant info that may actually let someone help you. For example, I could start by asking if the dizzy is loose, or I could go the other way and ask for the last time you changed your fuel filter, or I could even ask for compression test results. Any of which would help here.
