Help with starter prob PLEASE....
Help with starter prob PLEASE....
Ok heres the deal. I recently relocated the battery to the trunck and put a ford remote solenoid on it. The car started great. No problems what so ever. Well I broke the tranny and didnt have the funds to fix it right away. So the car sat for 2 months. Well today I finished the tranny swap and went to start it and all I got was a click. So I charged the battery and it started to spin over real slow then it would stop almost like to much timming. So i thought it was the battery shorted out or lost a cell. So I got another battery (brand new optima) and same thing. So I got another stater (brand new mini starter) and same thing. I have no clue what else to try. Could my remote solenoid be bad. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated.

You could always bypass the solenoid with a large screwdriver.
There is no chance that water got into the engine is there? (sitting outside with TB exposed for instance)
Almost sounds like hydrolock.... can also happen if an injector sticks open. I'd pull the plugs and try to crank it as well.

Thanks for the reply. Pulled all the plugs out and tried to turn it over and same thing. So thankfully thats not it
. So back to square one it just acts like the battery is bad but its impossible to have three bad batteries. Whats wierd is when you put it on a battery charger it says its fully charged ( 2 diferrent chargers) but when you turn the key on the volt gauge says it only has 9 volts and when you start it it drops to 0. I have tried crossing terminals on the remote solenoid. Im lost. Thanks for the replys so far.

Get a voltmeter on the start terminal, find out what voltage you're getting there. If it's low, work your way back to the battery one component at a time.
You didn't leave a ground cable off, did you?

Thanks everyone for your time. After putting battery in trunck I never ran a ground from the motor to the chassis. Did that and now it starts perfect. Not sure why it changed by changing trannys but hey it works now. Thanks again.

The motor must have been grounding out through your old tranny.
glad you got it fixed!
