Cruise control/speedo cable

hi, i have recently bought a 85 T\A and would like to get the cruise going. i am in the process of replacing the noisey speedo cable. the diagrams in the service manual show i should have a transducer but my speedo cable runs direct from the transmission to the instrument cluster.
i have a vacuum hose from the servo which is not connected.
and i have wires from the servo to inside the vehicle(switch, brake pedal).

was there some models that did not run the transducer with the cruise control?

NB The ecm has been disconnected from the vechicle.

Re: Cruise control/speedo cable

the transducer or VSS is probably mounted on the back of your speedo. if the ECM is removed then your cruise likely wont work even if you have all the other parts.

thanks guys,

just to correct myself the ECM is not disconnected. i only bought the car a month ago so not to sure whats going on yet.

I am assuming the ECM is not operational because the carby has been changed to a standard quadrajet.(not ecm controlled)
The motor has been changed. it has a 350.
can not find knock sensor.
computer is intact and plugged in.
map sensor is connected.

i am assuming that the little yellow box on the back of my cluster with wires going into the speedo is the VSS?

can the ECM still control anything else on the car even if it doesnt have the computer controlled quadrajet ?

Thanks
Vini
