Electrical problem when starting
I'm almost done with my engine swap ( cabureted 355). My first problem is when I try to start the car I blow an inline fuse. I have the following wires running to my starter. Purple one which trips the solenoid, Red wire coming from the alternator, 3 red wires (all tied into one connector w/ inline fuses) that run back into the interior and a final wire that I made going from the battery to the starter with a 20amp inline fuse. The last wire I made because I wasn't getting power to the ignition or the interior fuse box. Should I have made this connection or is there another way to power up the fuse box? This seemed the easiest way. I tried just losing the fuse altogether, however the wire starts smoking and I know would catch fire if so.
After I solve that problem I have to deal with the starter not turning the engine over. Sounds like starter is kicking out but not spinning the motor. I have no plugs in so it has no compression.

Re: Electrical problem when starting
Nevermind problem fixed. My D.A. never hooked the positive battery cable up to the starter. Mods can delete this worthless thread.
