engine still smokes!good comp.new valve seals
I have an engine that has approx. 118,000 miles on it.Problem is that it puffs smoke when it is slightly revved from idle.I have ran a compression test and all cyl. turned out good(over 100).I then decided to check the valve seals, and found that one exhaust valve seal was totally missing.I replaced all of the seals and the thing is still puffing smoke when revved up?Is it possible that some old oil is still built up in the head and not burned off yet?The motor was installed about a year ago,and the new umbrella seals shortly after. The engine has not been run for any length of time, just a few 5 or 10 min. idle runs and runs and idles perfect until I give it alittle gas and poof here comes the smoke.Any ideas anyone?

yes very possible just accumulated oil burning off. Drive about 500 miles and see if it gets better, if not you got problems elsewhere. What combo are you running, alum. heads or anything special? See if you have to add oil then it will tell you if it's residual or a bigger problem.

To put it simply, if you have to add OIL it's a problem, if not don't then don't worry about it. Mileage means nothing, compression test, leak down test, oil analysis etc really tells you whats going on. I have currently a chevy and a dodge with well over 200k only the original bottom end, top end been redone on both that puff a little but run like a champ.
