Weird electrical problem!

So I decided to go ahead and change my spark plugs & wires today. That actually went pretty well considering it was first time i've changed them on these cars. So I clean it all up, go to start it. Click, pump primes, radio's on; I go for the start click and DEAD, the whole thing just dies without turning over. I try to turn it on again, and nothing. Zero juice.

So I consider maybe the battary is screwed up, I replace it with a Delco battery and jump it for a half hour. When I try to click it, all the car does, is what can be best described as a banging sound. I checked the wires at the starter, and they all look good. I didin't yank on anything when I changed the plugs. I'm really at a loss now as to what to do, and could really use some help!
