Probably an easy answer..
When I turn the key, all I get is a loud click. Battery is good, wiring looks good. Starter may have gotten wet from a recent rear freeze plug coming out.
This was an intermittent problem, After a few clicks it would finally turn over, but now all I get is the click...
Some locals are telling me a bad solenoid? Is this for sure?

Possible short in your ignition. I had a 91 with the same problem. There's a wire running from your ignition (and your computer-chipped key) to your starter.

I had this exact some problem. I replaced the starter and the ignition switch. Neither did anything useful. Then, one day... It stopped happening... at all. I was all ready to replace the battery cables with new ones I have and it either fixed itself or something supernatural, because it was happening ALL the time before that, several times a day, many single clicks to finally get a start. Unfortunately this doesn't solve your problem, but lets you know what didn't fix mine and as of this point, I'm not gonna touch anything related to that area so I don't jinx my good luck.

Also, i found that my rear main seal was a tad leaky. It was leaking very little--but right onto the starter. It wasn't enough to get all over the driveway, but my starter was pretty mucked up when i pulled it.
also, if your starter has a shim between it and the rest of your ride, DON'T LOSE IT!!

well i went outside about 10 min ago and tried to start it
~click
shifted from P to 1 , then back to P
and she started right up.
It might be the neutral safety switch, but i'm not sure that it wasn't just freak luck...

Re: Probably an easy answer..
yup, same for me. Sometimes it'd start after messing with the shifter, sometimes it'd start after messing with the tilt wheel, sometimes and assisting the ignition switch rod a bit. But more than likely it was just coincidence messing with each of those things. If yours stays consistant, it may be the switch though. Mine was not VATS related in the sense that I didn't have to wait 5 minutes between no starts to try again. Usually it took 2-3 single clicks, then it'd start. Randomly it'd be 10-15.
