Your injectors are not firing. Since it is batch fire you have two power sources going to each side of the injectors. Your ECM provides the ground to complete the circuit. My guess is that your ECM or MEMCAL is bad.

Unless of course you have 8 bad injectors or both fuel circuits are inop which I highly doubt.

Is there any way to test those?

Re: Good Pressure but no fuel to plugs?

Control module in distributor would be my guess , as it tells the ECM to fire the injectors. But then again, with good spark , it could be the ECM or PROM .

Was it running before the pump swap ?

It hasn't been running for about three years. the pump went out and the guy I bought it from parked it. It has alot of aftermarket stuff on it, so I dont know if there is something that im not doing right. but it was running until the pump went out

Re: Good Pressure but no fuel to plugs?

If you have or can get a spare ECM to try I would go there , does the SES light cycle with key on ?

The ECM could have been bad all along.....

Re: Good Pressure but no fuel to plugs?

Dont have access to one. Im new to TPI so here are some stupid questions. Whats the difference between ECM and Prom? What is a MEMCAL? Would it be better to pull all the tpi off and use a good carb? Or would I be happier with the TPI?

Re: Good Pressure but no fuel to plugs?

The ECM is the computer itself , silver box , the PROM, or MEMCAL is the computer chip which has the engine calibration on it . There is a sticky on here somewhere which has the differences in PROM types .

I wouldn't go carb , but thats just me , only a couple of things will cause no injector pulse , Dist control module , ECM or Prom failure , no power to one side of the injectors , once you find which one is missing it'll run .

Carb is much better than TPI in my opinion. However if you need an ECM I will PM you my phone number and can send you one for a very reasonable price.

If you need a MEMCAL I have an extra one as well. I have several MEMCALS 2 of which belongs to Vader and are his to have but if you want you can borrow one.

And ECM is the Engine Control Module. It is the large silver brain of the engine. The ECM's have been built to be sort of universal. The same ECM is in S-10's cavaliers etc.

The prom is a small chip with engine specifications that is connected to the MEMCAL.

On the ECM there is a small rectangular door. If you remove it, you will see a Blue chip thing. That is the MEMCAL. Release the MEMCAL from the ECM and remove the plastic cover from the MEMCAL and you will see the PROM. Inside the MEMCAL are 3 chips. The PROM and 2 other smaller LIMPHOME chips.

The PROM itself is what makes your car unique as for as the ECM goes. The MEMCAL itself is there to make sure your car works even if the prom is Inop. The LIMPHOME mode, reduces timing and adds a crap load of fuel to make sure the car is somewhat drivable.

Re: Good Pressure but no fuel to plugs?

OK I had a friend who checked my injector plugs with a noid light and all of them were firing, So I am going to assume that the injectors are stopped up from sitting. I forgot to mention that the gas in the tank and the old fuel pump were lacquered up pretty bad. I replaced the tank and the pump and blew out all the lines but think the injectors are stopped up with the old hard gas. Is this possible? If so, can the injectors be cleaned? Im kinda on a tight budget.

Re: Good Pressure but no fuel to plugs?

Thanks for all the help, But I finally got it running, It was the injectors stopped up from old gas. I took them out and a friend cleaned them and now they work great. I need to know if any one has a diagram for vaccum routing on 1986 tuned port, or if you know somewhere to find it????
