Hey to all! I've got a steering wheel shake in my 85 T/A. It's an auto, with a carb...if it matters. While parked, or turning the steering wheel to cut into or out of parking spaces, the steering wheel shakes left and right. Steering is fine out on the road, but while sitting still, or moving very slowly like trying to park, the wheel really shimmys. The fluid level is full, and I can't hear the belt squealing. Has anyone experienced this? If so, what is the remedy? Thanks a lot! Brent.

(let me clarify above statements about the wheel shaking while sitting still, the wheel does not shake unless I'm actually turning it...If I'm not touching it, it's fine...ok...thanks)

 

What are your idle RPMs?

 

The car usually idles at around at least 900rpm, although sometimes as high as 1500rpm if cold. Seems to do it either way.

 

Last time I had one do that the centerlink was toast. Almost for sure, something's badly worn out in the steering linkage or ball joints.
