No, driving 135 MPH on public road is not "normal".

It's also not legal. Nor is it sane.

Or, perhaps, did this occur on a closed course intended for this type of activity?

Re: car cut out at 135mph?

Hell I have been faster than that in my buddies fullsize chevy lol. We got to 145 (using the GPS speedo because the truck had huge pro-comp mud terrains).

Back on topic, I think that sounds about right. My formula governs right at 120, so at least I get to peg out the speedo. I think its just a fuel cut in the computer.

Re: car cut out at 135mph?

ive had mine to 150. and it felt like it was still climbing. you car prolly just ran out of power or out of breath. i know my car was doing that for a while till i put the 670 tbi on it then i didnt have the problem any more. but i only did that once. i dont really care to go that fast again. car acts differently and my butthole puckered up real tight. now i just keep it at 100 when i feel the need for speed. its more fun just to accelerate fast than to top it out. and like it was said before its dangerous, its illegal, and just plain stupid. we all make mistakes. and some of us live to learn from them.

Re: car cut out at 135mph?

Mine would cut off at 115 and it felt like I let off the gas. The ecm cut off the fuel at a preset limit on MPH and RPM, this will cause it to feel like you let out of it. I now have mine programmed to 200 mph and 10000 rpms. Only 2 things will keep me from hitting those limits, lack of nerve and lack of power.

If your limiters are set higher than 135 you ran out of power.

I'm pretty sure the cars are governed at 135.

Re: car cut out at 135mph?

I downloaded a couple 1227165_6E bins and they all have the fuel cutoff mph/rpm set at 255/10,000.

Of course that doesn't mean they haven't been modified, but I think these are all stock bins.

I'd stay under the speed rating of the tires on the car.

I looked at my '88 eprom before upgrading to the 6E.bin it was also set at 255/10,000.
The mph/rpm limiter is a firmware switch in the ECM programming.

Aftermarket ignition boxes also have rev limiters.

Re: car cut out at 135mph?

Does that RPM limiter actually work? I haven't tried it yet. I did put the limiter in my friends Z28 to 25mph to see what would happen and the car cut off completely when it hit 25mph.

Re: car cut out at 135mph?

There are 2 settings for speed and 2 for rpms. The first sets the limit and the second sets the restart. An example would be a speed limit set for 100mph and a resume speed of 98 mph.
The ECM cuts the fuel at 100 and resumes when your speed falls to 98

Its been a couple years since I messed with any of this stuff but I have a Holley Stealth Ram intake thats gonna take the place of my TPI on the engine I am building so it look like I need to brush up on my skills a bit.
