New problem with the trans?

I finally got my other problems worked out.....mostly. Then something new starts acting up. When I stomp the gas at a light or up a hill, something starts popping. There really isn't much of a sound as much as a feeling of popping. The car learches when it pops. I don't know anything about transmissions, but I kinda get the feeling that the rear end is skiping teeth or something. I have no idea where to start diagnosing the problem and once i figure it out i have no idea how to work on the drive train behind the engine.
There has always been a wierd sound coming from back there when i'm in gear and accelerating. It's a vibrating or maybe grinding low growl sound.
Thanks in advance for your ideas

I would start by trying to isolate the sound. Have some one rev the car in park while you walk around it and listen. Do the same with them driving slowly and you walking beside the car. Another was is to put the car up on jack stands and put it in gear(very dangerous). You are going to have to be a lost more specific to get any kind of help.

You talking about the popping or the grinding? The popping only happens under hard acceleration and that's what i'm more concerned about. I guess i can try to find where the growl is comming from.

I just read your other post about the (oil) coming out your exaust. Question do you have low power and some times stalls at lights and stop signs, hard to start with out giving it gas? I think your cat may be clogged up, that could also be the poping/ ticking noise you hear.
