Really bad exhaust smell at start up

Ok every1 there is a bad smell right when I start up my car. Smells like somethings burning. The smoke is a blue color but a few seconds after start up it doesn't smell or smoke. Is this something to worry about?

Re: Really bad exhaust smell at start up

If it only does it after sitting for a while like overnight it is probably just leaking valve guide seals. This is very common on a lot of GM heads. If that's what it is, I wouldn't worry about it much as long as it stops smoking after a few seconds. It's more embarrasing than anything.

It still burns oil, fouls plugs, and leaves horrible deposits in the combustion chamber over time. you can change the seals and valve cover gaskets for like 50 bucks. just make sure you don't drop a valve (either push a small rope in through the spark plug hole, use compressed air, or turn the crank untill the cylinder you're working on is at the top of it's stroke), and you may want to use some sea foam afterwards if it's been doing this a long time.
