Engine wont turn over

I just put my engine back in the car and finished tightening my steering column at the same time and the engine won’t turn over.
All the lights work, my windows roll down, and every thing. However my fog lights doesn’t turn on, and my headlights won’t go back down but the headlights turn on.
When I put the key to the on position the security light turns on for a few seconds and turns off, I think that’s normal though. But the engine light dose not turn on, I think that is supposed to turn on when the engine is not running.
I can’t find anything that connects to this connector under the steering column. (The picture below)
And could the battery be bad because it has been sitting for a year and a half?

Re: Engine wont turn over

you said you tightened your steering column..did you have it out or something? did you do any other work under the dash where you may have knocked the safety switch loose from the clutch pedal?

Re: Engine wont turn over

Hey Cambridge205,

I was seriously contemplating switching my GTA over to a manual transmission. Was the swap very hard to do?

Re: Engine wont turn over

The swap was not too hard however you need to measure for the hole in the firewall from a firebird that already has a clutch. The hardest thing was to get the hydraulics properly bled. But that depends on luck for some people bleeding it by the slave cylinder works and I wish it did for me, and some times you have to do something like a backwards bleed. But the whole swap was well worth it! Till the engine busted on me

I'll try the test light. But I don’t have one right now. I'll get one when I get my battery tested tomorrow. But I’m betting its something to do with the steering column does anyone recognize that connector I took a picture of?

Re: Engine wont turn over

I found out what was wrong. The signal wire was on the wrong post. And I had the starter tested when I found out "Oh there are two little posts on it..." Thanks for all the help and sorry for taking so long to update this post.
