Where is the Coolant Temperature Sensor located?

I am trying to replace the coolant temperature sensor on my 84 camaro with a swapped 350 but I have no idea where it is located. Pictures would be great ... please help I can't start my car!

Re: Where is the Coolant Temperature Sensor located?

The CTS is on the water outlet. It has a 2-wire plug, yellow and black. Assuming of course that you still have the computer-controlled carb system on it.

A bad CTS will not cause a no-start. A runs-like-crap maybe, a Check Engine light for sure; but not a no-start.

What makes you think it needs to be replaced?

Re: Where is the Coolant Temperature Sensor located?

Because I have trouble starting my car in the cold. I read about it and it said that based off the coolant temperature it determines the air/fuel ratio and it seems like I am not getting enough fuel to my engine to start it becuase it does turn over. In warm weather it starts perfectly fine.

Does it have trouble starting? Do you pump the gas SLOWLY all the way to the floor a couple of times before trying to start it, like the owner's manual describes?

Or, does it have trouble turning over, which would be more a starter or other electrical problem?

It has no problem turning over at all ... I've pumped the gas twice and the car would start. I would sit there for a good minute giving it a little gas to keep it from turning off but as soon as I switch it into drive it turns off. I try to start it again and it doesn't work.

Not the CTS.

Sounds like the choke is not working. Probably all gunked up with the funk of the ages.

Get yourself a can of spray carb cleaner; clean off all the linkage on both sides of the carb, make sure it's all free to operate. See if that helps.
