which is better? part 2, with a 2nd ?
another question is whihc is better to hav, a v belt system or a serpiteen belt(sp)? or does it boil down to personal prefence also is it nessary to clean the pistion tops to get the carbon off? if so then how do i clean them? i mean i can clean with the pistions at the top or do i hav to take em out? and if i take em out, i hav to rebalance the engine again? (atleast thats what im told, but im starting to really not believe the mechinics here)

It doesn't matter which belt drive system you use. The serpentine system is easier to work on and maintain because there is only one adjustment and the tension is set by the tensioner. You probably get more life out of your accessories from not over tightening them and certainly longer belt life. Of course, if you actually know how to tighten belts, then it's not a problem...
If you are tearing your engine apart and you take the pistons out, clean them by blasting them with walnut shells or glass beading. Be careful not to damage the connecting rod or the piston. I prefer the old 3M green scrubbie pads and some elbow grease, myself... If you are leaving the pistons in, then you are probably better off putting the engine back together and running something like the GM top end engine cleaner or similar.
