what oil pan vortec?
what oil pan does a 97 350 vortec use? is it 86 and up oil pan?

As long as it's a pan for a one piece rear main seal motor (86-up UNTIL you get to the completely different LS-series of motors!!) and it fits your chassis, it'll work. So, yes, you can definitely reuse say, an original 3rd gen F-body pan on a Vortec engine. Frankly, I'm not sure the original Vortec truck pan is any different than a much older 3rd gen F-body pan. Really, the Vette oil pan is about the only "oddball" pan that won't drop into most other GM cars.
