"Gorilla snot" - what and where do I get it?

I even heard of this product in a book I was reading while killing time in a bookstore the other day - I have yet to see this product on a shelf somewhere. ( Imagine the labeling picture, that would sell itself...)

What's it's real product name, and would anyone recommend me using it to 'glue' my summit differential cover on the back? The last few times (using RTV) it still wanted to weep out some fluid.

Thanks

Gasgacinch
3M weatherstrip adhesive

Either or works.

I use a gasket on my rear, never had a leak issue.

Or give a hanky to an ape at the zoo, but don't tease the tigers...

What madmax said: 3M 8001 (or, 8008 is the black version... people call that "bear sh**")

I use either silicone or the paper gasket on rear ends, just whatever I have handier. The gasket hardly ever leaks anyway, no matter which you use. The seals, rubber plugs in covers that have those, faulty spot welds where the tubse go into the pumpkin; those are where the leaks usually are.

I have one of those aam aluminum covers from slp and never had a problem with it leaking, when I take it off I just clean the surface real good and put a bead of rtv around it.. never had a problem..

guerrilla snot is not sticky enough long enough. me and other drummers use it so we don't through sticks out into the crowd or an annoying lead singer. I suggest the black gasket maker. i used red high temp and it did not stick well.

I can't imagine it'd stick well to your sweaty hands, I doubt anything would...?

Alright, well i'm going to get some of the stuff for purposes yet to be determined, and i'll try using my paper gasket dry then. I've used red and black permatex and neither one worked perfectly. It just weeped enough out of the bottom to get my hands dirty when I was down there. I'll check the pipe plugs in the cover as well.

Yea, I was using black last time, and it leaked (a bit). I think i'll just sand the surfaces to be sure they're flat and CLEAN. Then put RTV on and let it skim up, then put the cover on and lightly tighten it. Then once it's fully cured wrench it down good.
