86 iroc z camaro

Hello everyone new here,

My uncles step son has a 86 iroc z camaro for sale . I took a looked at the car yesterday and my uncle said that his son went to get his check a a while ago and shut the car off and went inside and came back out and the car wouldnt start, so he noticed that it was out of gas and put 5 gallons in and it still wouldnt start so they towed it to the corner and their it sits today. The car is red and has only 74,000 miles. Now my uncle isint a genius when it comes to cars so i doubt that they tried to prime the carb or atleast made no mention of it to me. They were offering to sell the car for 700 dollars so shouls i pick it up? What kind of problems couldnt that be? Btw its 5.0 ltr 4 spd auto trans.

Thanks Erik

Almost all 3rd gens have AC (in the U.S., anyway).

Power windows are pretty common, power mirrors less so.

Re: 86 iroc z camaro

Unless its been modded the pump should be a manual on the side of the block, im sure you know that. normally about 8 bucks

Re: 86 iroc z camaro

I'm not 100% sure, but I got an 86 Sport Coupe, and pretty sure its a mechanical one... I might be wrong, but I think I remember reading that carb'd engines in these cars have mechanical fuel pumps under the hood. My 89RS had an electric one but it was MPI not carb'd.

Well thats the problem, some are some arent. I have an 85 coupe and it is. and i had an 86 and it was. But different models i think, differnent set ups. if oyur not sure call the parts store if you havent looked yet and just tell them you need one for your car. They will know what ever there computer has. Good luck

My 87 HAD an electric fuel pump, it was junk so I trashed it and my 350's got the mechanical (although I did an engine swap).
