Weird noise when starting car..?

Lately since its cold my car has been acting up... when I start it, it doesnt stay running I have to give it a lil gas than it idles fine after that and it does start up everytime i do that.

The problem is when i start it there seems to be a kinda low rumble grind sound, I have no idea what it could be...?

Battery is fine, starter is good ( its not the grinding from the starter ) and alternator is good.

You could say it has kind of a rough start if anyone can help that would be great.

91 camaro 305 tbi 175k miles.... had complete tuneup not to long ago, oil change every 3k miles, oil pressure has been low for a while but its been running fine like that for a long time... I think my oil pump went but im not sure.

Any help would be awesome thanks.

How cold has it gotten, and what kind of oil are you using?

Re: Weird noise when starting car..?

I Live on Long Island and its been cold enough for snow id say. As for the oil I have been using the same oil for over a year and a half and I doubt thats it, I dont know exactly what kind of oil because I get it from my mechanic who helps me work on my car, It just comes in a big red barrel.

Im used to my car acting up when its cold because its pretty common, I had the same problem with my firebird when I had one.

Its just the low rumble I hear when I start it that troubles me and you can really hear it when it sits over night or for a long period of time when its cold.

I dont know if it does it when the weather is warm because it just started happening but when the car is warm it starts much quicker and the rumble is not as obvious.

Sounds kind of like a low exhaust rumble could that be it...?
