Which Distibutor to use?

Magna Charger claims both large cap HEI distributors I have won't fit with their blower.

-So I'm looking for one that will fit.

Are there any small cap type distributors that will plug right in to my stock HEI connector on a '83Z? (the 3 pin type?) - I'm not on the CCC computer anymore, so I need both a mech/vac advance.

Only one I've seen that's promising is a Mallory Unilite.....but it seems there should be more out there. Not trying to break the bank either - I'll be using a MSD boost retard with it. (PN 5462)....

There are many available. Search www.summitracing.com, MSD 8361 and Summit's 850055 are two examples that require a box.

Thanks 5-7.....maybe it's the pics that are deceiving me, but they appear to use the same screw-hook hold-down for the cap...which my large cap HEI uses. And neither mention that they are small-cap type. I guess I'm used to seeing the older spring clips to hold the cap down (like on the old points-style)

-If you're SURE the base and cap are smaller, I'll order the Summit one!!...

I know you can't always trust Summit's pictures, but I have the 8361. It definitely is small cap. It plugs directly into MSD boxes like Digital 6 and 6AL. I believe that applies to the 5462 as well, from what I can gather from the instructions (http://static.summitracing.com/globa...2_frm23950.pdf , Fig 4).

Thx 5-7!!

Exactly what I needed to know! I'm leaning towards the Summit 850055 that you kindly posted.....seems to have everything the MSD does but cheaper.

I have a practically new MSD 8362 that I can't use...
- Just another sacrifice to the blower gods....
