Motor mount bolts

Quick question, do the bolts holding the lower mount to the body have removable nuts on the other side or tread into the frame?

And the only thing holding the nuts inside the frame are the bolts. . .

Re: Motor mount bolts

I ended up taking the A arms off to get to the nuts. While i had them i putting the Energy Suspension bushings in, sanded them down and repainted them. The next weekend on PowerBlock they showed how to remove the rust with a battery charger and a tub of bakingsoda detergent, damn i should have waited.

Yea, or you can use lye. It takes a while, and you need a big tub though. I bought a 120L tub I think for that very purpose. Need a lot of sacrificial steel though, lots of surface area makes it work best. Amperage is more important than the voltage, so a stick welder might work, or a computer power supply.

Or vinegar... or molasses.. neither of which needs electricity unless you're in a hurry.

Yea, and the side benefit of molasses is the wonderful smell.
Define hurry. Days? Does it have the same effect as something like Coke, where if you leave it too long it'll dissolve the whole thing?

Re: Motor mount bolts

Coke dissolved nails when you leave them in the bottle for a while. I remember that experiment as a kid. Something about "then think what it does to your teeth" or something.... 13 cavities later I have yet to learn the message...
Anyway, no nail after a few weeks.

Ok, so leave a rusty piece of steel in a sealed jug of coke/vinegar/molasses and pull it out 24hrs later and it's rust free you say?

Re: Motor mount bolts

Water dissolves nails if you leave them in long enough.

How long it takes to remove rust will depend on how rusted your object is.
