Which MagicStick 4 LSA?
Looking at the TSP MagicStick 4 for my 383 Stroker. What is the difference in the 111LSA and the 112LSA? I know of the overlap, low-end vs. high-end power and crap, but in terms of idle. Which would be more of an aggressive, rough idle and which one would be a smooth "chugging" idle?
Thank you,
- Justin

You'd never notice a difference in 111 vs 112 LSA.
Longer LSA tends to give a smoother idle, and the lower would give a choppier lope. But one degree would be almost unnoticeable.
Both will be quite smooth, unless it's got a crazy long duration.

ok. thanks. what would be an awesome cam for my 383? Something that has high lift, so when you just touch the gas, it's basically WOT.
And in general, an awesome cam for my 383?
Thanks again,
- Justin

Alright, had to look up the cam to see what we're talking about here. I'm not all that well versed in the LS specific cams here. Ok, 239/242? .640/.610" ?
I think that one would work pretty well, but it will be a bit "cammy", so beware of that.

Re: Which MagicStick 4 LSA?
i have a buddy running a much larger cam in his 383 all bore lsx and his car runs HARD! its a big grind tho and does give that camming sound thats for sure.
Magicsticks are always a good choice in a 364-383 tho. I think you'll like that cam. The new cams coming out today feature some HIGH lift lobes that will require some GREAT valve springs and alot of companies have made some good springs to handle those cams. Comp cams big block beehive springs are great. AFR 8019's and patriots extreme gold springs work well too

Yea, Cammy. It feels like it's got a lot of "cam" to it. With a stickshift you'll feel it. Drive through a parking lot with your "pure torque" TBI engine and it feels fine cruising around at 900RPM through parking stalls right? ok, now with a BIG CAM, but trying to maintain the same slow parking lot speed, it'll buck and surge like crazy. You have to ride the clutch to get through it. Bumper to bumper traffic is a nightmare too. Like riding a bronco really.
But if it's a sunday cruiser or something, and you never intend on fighting traffic with it, no biggie. My 224/230 was a PITA in traffic with my stickshift, my next 240/240 will be flat out annoying - so i'll avoid traffic

I gotcha sonix. Thanks. Sadly it is my daily driver so sometimes traffic is in the picture. I hate traffic! Oh well, I do see your point, that riding the clutch would get annoying real fast. Thanks for your help.
