i just recently bought a 1986 z28 camaro and i dont know if its the water pump going bad or what but there is a ticken noise coming from the front of the car, and do fuel filters go bad on these camaros

 

Is the car over heating? Is the water pump leaking? Is the ticking coming from under the valve covers? Fuel filters do get dirty and need to be replaced over time.

 

Injectors often make a ticking noise. Normal.

 

Take a piece of heater hose, stick one end in your ear, and use the other to listen to the various accessories and things, until you find where the noise is coming from.

Welcome to TGO. Start with a tune-up. Change all the fluids, filters, etc. A chip is useless if the car runs/performs like a beater.

ha ha well,chip and gas mileage normally don't go in the same sentence without the words "loss of" in between but welcome to TGO

 

My advice would also be to get the engine checked over and seviced, make sure that its got good oil pressure. Next, I'd make sure that it was breathing properly by looking at the exhaust etc. (Especially if its got all that anti smog rubbish fitted) In terms of better MPG, a lot of people don't even check simple things like tyre pressures which make a huge difference.
