Looking at a 4th gen... need help

I couldn't find where to post this so I apologize for it being placed in the tech/general question section. I'm looking to get another car and a friend of mine has a 1998 Trans Am that he just received as a fee for the vehicle. He knows nothing about the car. I know that it has an LS1 but nothing about the transmission, rear axle, or the body. Apparently it has a couple small problems like a missing passenger side door handle, missing key fob, and apparently the key won't come out of the ignition. I think they would be fairly easy problems to fix.

So the question: When I go and look at this car tomorrow what else should I be looking for? I've searched some of the 4th gen websites but they don't seem to have the knowledge that a lot of the people on this board have.

Any help is appreciated!
Mike

I'm not sure if we can forgive you or not. . .

If it is a manual transmission, it is a T56. If automatic, 4L60E.

Nothing special you need to look for. Find out the equipment, note everything that's wrong, go to kbb.com or something similar to determine the price (make sure you deduct for the things that need fixing).

ls1lt1.com is a decent place for 4th gen info. Less full of themselves than ls1tech.com.
