My car is running great... but,

Everyone here has been awesome. The advice and posts are the best out there. I have my 86 z running great.

Heres the only remaining stuff I need some help with:

1.) When I floor it, it takes a second before the engine responds. Is that normal? In my opinion it almost seems like it hesitates. This is a *****' automatic transmission. I am used to my audi a4 which just freaking goes when you step on the gas. New air and feul filter in place.

2.) the radiator is overheating... I think. Something aint right. It was smoking. I am not sure if it was the water burning, or something else, but the smoke'ish stuff is coming right from the radiator more on the right hand side. When the fan is runining it doesn't smoke, but the fan doesn't run 100% of the time. What is the correct configuartion? What do I need to do to make this **** stop and run correctly? I filmed the problem, so I will post it and add it to this post.

Thank you

Re: My car is running great... but,

What engine do you have in your car?

As far as the slow response time on the throttle I would start with cleaning and resetting your Idle air control valve, and after that adjusting your minimum air ( idle speed) and after that adjusting your throttle position sensor. Of course this is for a TPI application, if that is what you have this quick tune up should solve the problem.

As far as the radiator sounds like it might be clogged try changing the fluid and flushing it.

well unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with carbs, so before I give you some wrong advice I'll let someone else handle that. I believe that a tune up will solve that problem though.

Re: My car is running great... but,

do you still have the factory computer controlled quadrajet? the hesitation is likely a tuning issue, i would try posting that part of the problem on the carbueretor forum.

from my own experiance, computer controlled quadrajets are a major pain although they are tunable. i would do one thing to mine and just have another problem.
