Camaro stroker oil pan

i've been searching all over the web, and i can't seem to find the right combo for a oil pan with clearance for a 1 piece real seal and passenger side oil stick. If anyone could be of help thank you. 1990 383 stroker vortec engine.

Re: Camaro stroker oil pan

been lookin for the same thing. basically they are just knotched or dented in versus a stock type. i wonder if the extra capacity milodan oil pans designed for 82-92 firebirds will work with a stroker?... im building a one peice rear seal 383 HSR bout 500hp and i need the pan too....

u could get the rods shaved, and the block knotched...mite be good enough

Re: Camaro stroker oil pan

I've been reading up on that, really doesn't give a defianant answer. An, i'm worried about clearance between the y pipe and pan. I'd hate to be dropping it in and not work out because of a pan

Re: Camaro stroker oil pan

Stock oil pans usually fit 383s without too much of a fight. That's the first thing I'd try if I was you. You MIGHT have to dent it out, depending on what rods you have. Probably not though.

If it's a 1990 engine, it's not "Vortec". Vortec heads didn't come out until 1996; and they wouldn't have much impact on the oil pan in any case.

Re: Camaro stroker oil pan

I have moroso's oil pan for the 3rd gens. I dont have any problems with clearence with my Rods. I have the 6 inch SCAT pro comp rods in my 383. Be prepared to fool around with your Y-pipe though if you choose that oil pan.

I mean the car is a 1990, the block came out of a 1997 Suburban. An, I wasn't saying the block had anything to do with the pan. Only pointing out why it was 1 piece and PA side stick. Thanks alot for the information everyone. I hope i can make the stock work

Re: Camaro stroker oil pan

I agree with Sofa. I'm running the stock pan on my 383 stroker 6" rods AND a windage tray. All I had to do to get the rotating assembly to clear was slightly dent the front/bottom of the pan.

Re: Camaro stroker oil pan

im running the moroso 6 qt pan with my 4" stroke. The builder said the pan needed "a little work" but just looking at it you can tell it was even messed with.

But like said before, the aftermarket pans are not y-pipe friendly

Re: Camaro stroker oil pan

same posistion here, building a 383 and was hoping to reuse the stock pan if it will fit. I dont want to buy another pan and find out it doesnt fit well or has clearance issues with anything else in the engine bay.

Is there any advantage having more oil like 6-7 qt's over a 5 qt setup, other than safety of having alot more oil available to be run thru the motor ?

you can still run 5 qts and the oil level will be out of the way of the crank and help reduce windage losses and foaming.
that sounded good, i think i got it right.

or just to have the extra oil. I have a good sized oil cooler and i like the idea of having a little more oil for when the valve opens and the oil pumps out and into the cooler. Again, this sounded like a good idea to me at the time, but i dont know if it is necessary
