Where's the pump?
I have an 87 camaro(305 W/700r4) that my grandpa bought, the guy he bought it from rebuilt/took out/ screwed with the engine. from what I can see it is all stock. but now there is gas getting into the oil. I pretty much know its the fuel pump, so can any one tell me where it is?

Re: Where's the pump?
It's impossible to get oil into the gas. The fuel pump is electric and inside the fuel tank. It will supply fuel to the engine and what isn't used will be returned to the tank. Nowhere in the system will oil get anywhere close to the gasoline.
If for some reason you have a mechanical fuel pump and a carburetor, the fuel pump is mounted at the right front side of the block. There is no pressurized oil there so again, there's no way to put oil into the fuel. A mechanical fuel pump has a better chance of putting gasoline into the oil than the other way around.

Re: Where's the pump?
if the electric pump is on with the engine off, the fuel could potentially make it past the seat, go into the intake, and fill the cylinders with fuel, which would leak past the rings and down into the oil pan. make sure that the pump is not running continuosly while the engine is not running.

Then if you have a mechanical pump on the side of the block it could be leaking past the diaphram and leaking into the oil

There's no switch inside for the electric fuel pump.
I'm a little confused how you could know it's mechanical but not know where it is. Oh, because you don't see a fuel switch inside the car. Never mind.
Is this engine carburetored or TPI? If TPI, there is no mechanical pump.
If it's carburated, it has both a mechanical pump mounted on the front passenger corner on the side of the engine just above the oil pan, and an electric inside the fuel tank. This was a 1987 model year only thing (from the factory - the in-tank could be added by the dealer as a "vapor lock" kit), and coincidently, the last year of a carburetor on f-bodies.
