poly locks on stock rockers
I am so tired of the rocker nuts backing off
I have found some poly locks for stock rockers and I was wondering if anyone has used these before
yes i have used new rocker nuts before you ask

I don't see a problem using poly locks, as long as you get ones that are short enough for your stock rocker studs (are they stock?)
I'd still be worried about why YOUR normal locking nuts are backing off, where millions of other peoples aren't..... Are you certain that the studs aren't just being pulled out?
Don't take this the wrong way, i'm not trying to second guess your choice, I just hate to see someone buy a part for a problem that isn't there, then still have to go fix the problem, after dumping some unneeded cash

It "works", sometimes; but isn't a real good idea.
Go to the hardware store and buy 16 Grade 8 nuts in that size (3/8"-24) and use them as jam nuts on the existing rocker nuts. Too simple. Fits under your valve covers, even.

Re: poly locks on stock rockers
the studs have been pinned
I think the threads on the studs are worn to the point of no return
I have tried using a die to redo the studs, I have beat on the top of the new rocker nuts
this seems to happen on every sbc I build so if you guys could help me get to the bottom of this problem much respect
accually much respect either way
when I put the nuts on they go on tight. after a month or two I start to get a tick and take the valve cover off and the nut is super loose
so do you guys think that the polys that have been designed to be used on stock rockers would help
heres a link to what I am looking at on evilbay

16 jam nuts is AHELLUVALOT cheaper, fits under your valve covers, and is GUARANTEED to work.
You could even just go to GM and buy new nuts. I aways put new ones on whenever I build a motor with ball fulcrum rockers. They're also AHELLUVALOT cheaper than those other ones.

With stock valve covers it's dicey if those will fit. I didn't even think of that, but yea you'd probably need to get tall ones.
If your rocker studs are pooched then I think you need to replace a few. You can remove your pin and pull them out as normal. then use the MRG-76 I think it is, tap and install threaded ones.
Or just use the jam nuts. That's assuming you have enough GOOD threads to use them.
