Whats the reason for not doing it yourself or taking it to a machine shop? Youll be looking at big bucks.

Re: 350 iron block with forged internals

ALright so i did have a psare block, but the deal fell through. I have not much time to piece it together and chance messing up something. I am not familiar with building m own. Would a local machine shop put it all together if i bought the stuff?

Re: 350 iron block with forged internals

you can take it in and they will build it im sure if you bought all the parts and what not but its going to be pricy i would think.
its really not hard to put in a crank, rods, pistions and all that togeather and pop it into that block. if you come across any snags or problems you can always post on this website and someone will defentally help you out.

getting a shop to do it i would image is costly. have to pay them by the hour i think. i never had to take my engine in to get built by a shop before so i wouldnt know.

im sure you can put them in youself in afew hours. to me it looks pretty straight forward to put togeather.

Re: 350 iron block with forged internals

My local machine shop put my bottom end together, they charged $200 for labor. I thought that was relatively reasonable, and I supplied most of the parts. I was looking at spending $300 just on tools to do it, plus the possibility of breaking something then or later on from inexperience and newbie mistakes. I didnt have an engine stand or even torque wrench at the time, and buying all the tools was going to set my project back a while.

What is your budget? I did the same thing you are looking to do. I bought all the components myself and had an engine shop assemble the engine from intake manifold to oil pan.
