113 or vortecs

Im building a 355(eventually) but Ive got a 305tpi now. I bought a set of vortec 906 heads and a set of 113 vette heads. I know the 113 will work on the 305 with no milling and the vortecs will have to be milled down for my cr. If I keep the 113s and sell the vortecs will I regret it once the 355 is ready..Ive been searching and I dont see alot of comparison threads on the 2 heads.whats your take? Also the 113 have dual coil springs on them, is that stock? If so and I machine them for higher lift will that spring be good to .520. thanks

you would be better off with the vortecs since they flow alot better than the 113's unless you want to have the 113's ported n pollished and machined but you would need the vortecs to have the valve guide bosses machined along with different valve seals for the amount of lift you want. you also should make sure the valve springs match what the cam company recommends for spring pressures, valve spring diameter, and coil bind. if the 113s already have dual valve springs then there must have been some work done to them since they only come with a single valve spring with a dampner inside the spring. here is a ling to certain cylinder head flow numbers the 113's are the l98 heads

i hope this help you a little bit

Re: 113 or vortecs

The 113's have Screw-in studs and guideplates. I would just send to Lloyd Elloit for a port job. I would opt for the LE2 package. Those would ROCK!

Re: 113 or vortecs

All GMs aluminum small block heads have screw-in studs, and lots came with guideplates too. The L98s are no exception. My LT1 has screw in studs too. No aluminum heads had pressed studs, only iron.
