i have a 92 trans am convertible with a 305 tpi stock engine (its a daily driver and want to keep it that way) i want about 250 to 300hp whats the easiest and leat expensive way to go

There's an easy way, but it's not inexpensive - Cam, ported heads, aftermarket base & runners, ported plenum full aftermarket exhaust, PROM tuning. Of course, it'll be easier to obtain the HP goal, and more driveable, if you get a 350 and make the mods to it.

There's a slightly more difficult way, maybe a little less expensive, perhaps a little better results - LT1. Figure on the exhaust expenses, but the power is there from the factory.

There's an even more difficult way, a little more expensive, but long-term results, economy, driveability, and upgradeability are excellent - LS1. The power is there without any other modifications.
