Splitfire plugs and wires

Are these good plugs and wires? Does anyone here have them?

No. The plugs especially are garbage, and the wires are over-priced gimmicks.

Use AC/Delco plugs. If you REALLY want to bite off, use the Rapid-Fires. Avoid the "gimmick" plugs like Splitfire, +4, etc.

I'd suggest these wires.

Just out of curiosity, why those specifically? What do you think of MSD wires? My car could use some new wires since the originals are still on there. They seem to work ok, but they shocked the **** out of me the other day when I touched a plug wire boot on the cap.

I want something that fits like factory, but some color would be nice too. Looks like a complete pita job to change them, is it?

The MSDs are OK, but cost more. THey seem a bit more physically fragile though.

Yeah if they shock you, then the electricity isn't staying inside the wire like it's supposed to.... not good. Sounds like it's time.

The Taylors are available in various colors...

Changing them isn't too bad, except for running the driver's side ones to the plugs. But even that isn't too bad if you jack up the car and get them from underneath.

I agree with Sofakingdom. Don't waste money on gimmick plugs/wires.

I also use the Pro Series Taylors. They work great aren't that expensive. I have the Hot Oranges for obvious reasons.

Gawd I thought we had progressed beyond this sort of thing after the smokey and the bandit car era.

I used to like "rolling my own" wires so that they fit right. Or do current replacement wire sets actually fit decently?

Re: Splitfire plugs and wires

Those are a "roll your own" type set. They come with the plug end on them, you put on the dist end.

They're not too bad if you take all the old ones off, start from the shortest ones (5 & 7) to the longest, number them at both ends, run them from the plugs to the dist by whatever routing you prefer, then put the dist ends on.

with these plugs http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Come to think of it, my car already has the NGK Iridiums in her that I bought last year. Would I be downsizing in plug performance if i buy the ACdelco rapidfires? Do I need to change the plugs every season?

If you are already running the proper ngk plug, and they are in good shape, why would you change them? Dont replace what isnt broke.
