The bracket you attach a chain too to lift out the engine.

Re: Need pics please

Gotcha. I'm not sure I'd worry about it though just as long as it's bolted on and not interfering with anything, or maybe you wouldn't know yet if the engine's out of the car?

I'am getting ready to put the engine back in and I use those lift when I too out old motor and just want to be sure I have it on right when I hook the chain up to it.

Re: Need pics please

also this engine came out of a 79 el camino, Which side does the temp sensor go on the head and also what side for the fan switch? My old 305 had a sensor on each side of the heads, but these sensors will not fit as the holes are a bit larger on this 350 engine, any suggestion as to what size I ask for at a parts store?
Thanks

Re: Need pics please

The lift bracket goes under the rearmost intake manifold bolt on the pass side. The chain hole goes toward the valve cover.

Older heads have ½" NPT holes; newer ones have 3/8" NPT holes. All you need is a couple of brass ½"-3/8" NPT bushings from your local plumbing supply, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.; and then use the stock sensors and stuff for your car. I know for sure that HD and Lowe's both have them hanging in plastic bags in their wall of brass fittings.

That's fine too; just buy the right ones for the car (which will be 3/8" NPT), and bushings. Beats chasing a "my fan doesn't work right" or "my temp gauge reads funny" problem later.

Re: Need pics please

Yea, the sensors need to match the CAR, ie. the gauges or ECM, not the engine thread size. So you'll still need the bushing.

Thanks supervisor42 thats exactly what I was looking for. Also That oil pressure gauge you have on yours is exactly the one that came off my 305 engine, I was thinking if I should reuse it or get the smaller one?

Man you guys don't know how much help you guys have been giving me thru this swap, I'am almost there I can see the end of the light creeping up! And the bottom of this kids wallet I'am doing this for! :-)

I'd spring for a new one that is for the year model and engine that the car came with. They're not expensive, and they "wear".
