oil everywhere, help.

ok, so i recently bought my 89 GTA. and when i drove it home it had a little white smoke from the engine bay, popped the hood and noticed a bit of oil on the mantifold, pulled the valve cover and it was a blown valve cover gasket. started it up andran for about 3-4 mi9nutes seeemed to be ok, park until today. went to go through emissions (passed no problem) but on the way home i had ALOT of white smoke out of the engine bay, pulled over and popped the hood. there was oil all over the top of the motor (on top of valve covers, plenum, all over hoses ect ect.) then i noticed that the oil dipstick looked like it was pulled up, pushed it down and drove home (bout 5 miles), when i got home popped the hood again and dipstick was back up. I think the oil is shooting up out of the dipstick, but i cant understand why this would be. i dont know what to do, the engine is l98, any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok , this is a new buy . car been setting a long time ? sludge build-up , excess crank case press . sounds like my car when i bought it from my neighbor . i first replaced valve seals , when valve covers are off clean all sludge off heads , make sure drain holes ( lower front & rear of cylinder heads ) are clear . oil from the rockers/valves drains back to crank case through them . anyway replace all PCV valves , hoses , screens/filters . then change oil , put a can of eng. flush before drain . almost forgot , when i changed valve seals i put a 1/2 cup of ATF in each cylinder after changing seals ( i took my time ) 2 or 3 days turned over ( with out plugs ) had a mess BWTH . took my time and brought thing back to life . worked for me , eng. oil sludge can build-up fast . almost every oil change i put a can of flush in before drain . i see a darker oil than the dipstick showed . oil is the life blood of the engine . DAMN , long post , anyway worked for me . good luck .

Re: oil everywhere, help.

your pcv system could be fouled up but that sounds a little extreme maybe there is too much oil in it.

ok, well.....i switched pcv valve, and then i got a pcv breather for the passenger side valve cover, and ran it for a little while, looked ok, took it down the street....smoke and oil EVERYWHERE, like worse than before. when i took the valve covers off, the inside looked really clean, i have no idea whats going on...i hope i dont have to rebuild the motor.
