Re: Mpg and weight

My camaro is all stock, and I have not really noticed a huge differance in mileage when I have it loaded up. I have driven it from Washington to California and back a few times loaded with everything from kids, to moving boxes, to furniture. (I know I have been rough on it). However I still end up stopping at the same gas stations and getting about the same amount of gas as when the car is empty and it is just me. Don't know if it helps but that is my experience.

I was gonna write a long sofakingdom kinda response involving Force, Mass, Acceleration and Distance, but the short answer is simply YES.

Re: Mpg and weight

lol, but probably not much huh? Like you could'nt expect more than 1 or 2 mpg difference with exta 2 or 300 pounds maybe, that sound about right?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Mpg and weight

Yes it will make a difference.

Probably not that much... 2-300 lbs probably ½ mpg. That's like one heavy passenger.

Re: Mpg and weight

My boyfriend weighs over 200. Throw in a couple of my kids and an extremely packed trunk and like I said, I haven't seen much of a difference. A little but not enough to make it matter. On a 1300 mile drive we still got gas at the same places, with only a fraction of a gallon difference.

On the highway it's mostly gonna even out with up and down hills; around town with allot of stop and go driving, it's gonna make the most difference. It still won't be much of a difference.

Re: Mpg and weight

When my '83 was all stock, driving by myself or with 3 friends didn't make much difference... but now with the higher compression, more cam, bigger carb/intake/heads, etc etc.. even one decent sized passenger (150-200lbs) can make a noticeable difference (goes from 10mpg to like 7mpg lol.... from bad to worse, basically )
