Serpentine Belt Tensioner & Spring
I am trying to get my accessory brackets & tensioner powder coated, but both places I talked to told me to disassemble my belt tensioner before they would do anything. Ok. I've read that it's not a real good idea to do this as it's not really a servicable part.
Last night I ran across a post made by Vader in 2001 where he disassembled a tensioner and gave some details on how to do it. I don't really want to go all the way with it, nor do I want to lose an eye or dent my car. All I really need to happen here is get the black plate & the plastic piece behind it off the front of the tensioner so it can be coated and baked. Can I do this and leave the spring intact so I can just bolt the face back on? Is it as simple as unbolting the solitary Torx bolt in the middle?
