the cam spider/girdle. need help

HEy guys I have a new motor going into the camaro. I was wondering if I should stay with the stock spider/girlde thing? Will this have any effect on my valvtrain? Should I just spend the money on a new one thats strong?

My sig says all the stuff I have. I am guessing in the upper 500hp mark with nitrous

Re: the cam spider/girdle. need help

It depends on the valve lift. i have heard off people getting around .550 to .560. I know with a rev kit, I have a xr282 that is at .510/.520 and it has held together. I think any higher it would be safer to spend the extra money for a better setup.

I was looking at this to take care of my worries. I have a complete fresh and top dollar valvtrain. I do not want to mess it up with something like old parts.

Unless its bent the one you have is fine. the one you linked to in summit is exactly the same as what you have except new. I was running a .570 lift cam with the factory setup with no problems. Now I'm runnig .590 lift on the factory spider and retainer with no problems.
