Fast Burn Header/Exhaust Gasket Question...

I am getting GM Fast Burn heads for my Camaro and was wondering what type of exhaust gasket I need to get. I know that they are D styled ports so should I go with a LT1 styled gasket? I am also keeping my Hooker Super Comps 2210 (1 /34 primaries) if that helps.

Thanks

Kevin

The exhaust port should be way smaller than the pipe opening in the header. Get a gasket that is close to the pipe size of the header. While we're on the subject, burned out/leaking header gaskets are as common as dirt. Everyone gets this wrong. Here's the secret: It is not a gasket problem, it's a bolt problem.
Gaskets leak and burn out because the bolt gets loose due to temperature cycling.
The bolts that come with headers are always too short. Check the holes in the heads and get longer bolts (small headed ones). The bolt should be as long as possible to still pull the header up without the gasket and not bottom out.
You'll be suprised what the correct length turns out to be.
Loctite the threads of the bolts. Run the headers to operating temp a few times and tighten the bolts again after the gaskets seat. The loctite will accept a partial turn without loss of retention.
The threaded hole in the head is cooled by coolant and the loctite won't get hot enough to break down.
If you do this, you won't get trapped in the cycle of constantly tightening loose header bolts and changing gaskets.
And don't worry about the loctite causing the bolts to break off when you take them out. It actually prevents the metal-to-metal contact that causes the "frozen exhaust manifold bolt" syndrome.

Re: Fast Burn Header/Exhaust Gasket Question...

So I assume that the LT1 styled gasket will work then?
