anyone use powermaster mini starters?

I picked up a P/m starter # 9612. It is a really nice starter but doesn't fit. I'm wondering if anyone has overcome this. I'd really like to keep it.
Thanks.
P.s I have searched.

I use a powermaster XS on my engine.

The 9612 has the staggered bolt pattern.

What part of it "doesn't fit"? The nose cone can be clocked to different positions if the solenoid hits the block. If it doesn't engage into the ring gear, you'll probably need to get the 9600 which has the straight across bolt pattern and can be used on 153 and 168 tooth ring gears.
