Oil leak - please say its not the rear main, haha...
Ok, '91 3.1L V6 Camaro... *ahem* I've needed a transmission mount for a week or so. Yesterday on the way to work I noticed a clicking/tapping sound from the top end of the motor, as a precaution, I added a QT of oil right away and it went away... then while driving home, it started again. I stopped at autozone and let it sit then watched oil drip from somewhere between the oil pan/bell housing/transmission area. I really just need somebody to make be believe it could be more simple than the rear main seal (wishful thinking
).
Thanks in advance for even reading this.

On the 3.1l there are three locations that commonly leak oil. The easiest is the o-ring seal on the distributor. It sits right below the base on the housing. If you don't know it's there, you won't even notice it.
The other two locations are both what you don't want to hear. The first being the cam plate on the rear of the block. The other the rear main.
Check out the distributor first. They can leak a lot of oil.

Wow, yeah- I did not know that was there. I'll definately check it out tomorrow night when I scrub down the engine to get a more accurate view. Thanks for the info!

There is also the oil pressure sending unit. Next to the Distributor. I am assuming the 3.1 has one just like the 305's.
