Grinding noise when I start the car

I have a 1991 Camaro. It's had its problems in the past, but most recently i have had truoble starting it. When I turn the key, the engine makes an attempt to start, but it cant. There is a really bad grinding noise as it tries to turn over. Ive got a brand new battery, replaced the plugs, wires, cap, ari filter, fuel filter, and fuel pump prior to this problem. Any ideas?

Re: Grinding noise when I start the car

you need a new starter or your starter isn't alined properly

Ditto, it probably needs to be shimmed properly.
