HELP ME!!!

OK I am new here so I dont know if I am posting in the right place I hope so. I have an 83 Camaro I just had someone put a new motor in for me. When I got it back I have no juice to anything. It start and drives, but no headlights, taillights, parking lights, interior lights, dashlights or windshield wipers. Dude that did it says there is one wire that is disconnected or that it could be. Should I look at the starter? Please help.

Thank You

Trey

Re: HELP ME!!!

Not real sure on the '83s, but on my 92 the main power cable from the battery attaches with three other wires on a stud on the starter. These power the rest of the car and are protected with fusible links. Either one is not connected or a fusible link is blown. I'd find it hard to believe you'd have that many blown fuses, so that's where I'd start.
Good luck.

Dave

Thank you. I already checked the fuse so I am going towards the wires to starter as well.

Re: HELP ME!!!

well hes talking about the fuseable link its the black thing on the wire near the starter...if they are all attached to the constant hot side of the starter and u still dont have power one of those black tube looking things is probably bad, in wich case u would need to cut it out and wire in a new one from the parts store they are only a cpl bucks...

Re: HELP ME!!!

FYI, the fusible links on my car are yellow (probably used to be clear)... just so you know they may or may not be black, but you'll know 'em when you see 'em.
And yes, as far as I know, the car can start and run if the right one is disconnected. I think two are red and one is orange, or vice versa, not sure what systems each one powers.

Re: HELP ME!!!

yeah dave is right they could be some other color then black. but typicaly are, and u might be able to start the car like i put on the diagram, if the wire that is bringing power to ure ignition is the one undone then no u cant but if its just the light one then u probably can....
