I think I want a new camshaft... Ive heard they can add some power.
I have very little knowledge of camshaft stuff, I know how they work, thats about it. I don't know what lift amounts are good, or bad, or anything like that.

Could I get a decent camshaft that would add a little power for less that $180?

Does anything else have to be modified to put a new cam in?

A better cam will change the sound of the engine also right?

I have a 82' 305.
Could you send some links to camshafts for suggestions?

your proli gunna spend about 300(comp cams .etc) and below..but flat tappet cams are cheaper than roller(you need a flat tappet)

yea..mostly the valve train..and get new valve springs to match the cam lift

yes..but it also depends on what size cam you get

your gonna need a flat tappet cam, they are cheap, id save up and get some better heads at the same time. dont forget that cam is gonna need new lifters too and probably valve springs and you might as well upgrade the rockers
