Where can I buy a distributor?

I need a new distributor for my car, I think the lid and rotor might be okay, but the parts below, that I assume go down into the engine are probably ruined. I think it would be best to buy a new distributor but where? Ac Delcos website doesn't show me anything I can use even when I use their find parts engine.

I found some distributors on ebay but I don't know what to buy, which brands are good/bad? Just what do I need for my car?

It's a '91 Trans Am GTA, 350ci engine.

I would just go to an auto parts store like autozone and buy one. Dont waste money on fancy ones.

Re: Where can I buy a distributor?

You can get a dist from AZ for around $100, comes with an ignition module but not a cap and rotor. Other than that you're looking at the high $200's for a decent aftermarket unit. I've got the MSD billet dist, computer controlled, came with cap/rotor and AC Delco module. Runs like $280 new, but I picked mine up from a member here that couldn't use it, otherwise it would have been too rich for me.

Here's a link to a good HEI site. They've got good prices too.

Re: Where can I buy a distributor?

If you order after-market, just make sure you get one that's computer controlled. Should be stock replacement for '87 up, small cap and should not have an advance can.

Re: Where can I buy a distributor?

Yeah I was hoping to find AC Delco, stock replacement, all the aftermarket stuff is so expensive, I just want it working again, it got corroded during winter storage and won't start even after we cleaned the rotor and cap. I don't really got the money for anything in the 200$ range. Ofcourse I am probably selling it as soon as possible, but I would have liked to have driven it atleast a bit this year. Gas prices in Finland are over 8 dollars per gallon.

What do you think of this one?

Re: Where can I buy a distributor?

Looks correct but it's probably no different than the standard replacement from AZ or the like. If it comes with cap/rotor it would be approximately equivalent in price. If you've already got a new cap/rotor check the Autozone website (and the Advance Auto, O'Reilly's, etc.).

Re: Where can I buy a distributor?

I've been surfing around and I've found something that looks like it should be what I want:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...c1251908k27788

Good price and they ship internationally. I was just hoping someone could verify this, whats no core charge mean?

I also found this one for 130, is it worth getting?

Re: Where can I buy a distributor?

Either looks good, although I've no experience with the United. You may want to do a search on them, see if there's anyone out there that's tried them.

No core charge means they're not going to add on any money pending return of your used dist. Most places that sell re-manufactured pieces will include a core charge of a few dollars then refund it when you bring in your old unit. Then they send in the old unit to be re-built and re-sold.
