New engine, can i get new wiring harness? anything with computer?
Hey all,
Im doing an engine swap on my 86 z28, and I have a couple questions
My old engine is the stock 86 z28 engine, 305 carbed, all stock.
The new engine is from an 82 camaro. It has no smog stuff on it or anything like that.
1. Can i get a new engine wiring harness, and how hard is it to hook up? I know how to connect to the engine, but im talking about connecting to wherever it comes from.
2. Am I going to have to do anything with the computer or anything? i have no knowledge what so ever of the computer stuff? Ive heard of burning chips and stuff? My new engine has a bigger carb with no electrical connections.

you don't really need a new harness, just use the wires you need and hide the others or you could retain your factory carb and distributor. If you are using a non-cc carb make sure you run a vaccum advance dist. No need to do anything with the computer. If you go non-cc carb and dist it won't be controlling anything anyway. If you use your factory carb dist and accessories it will simply run the way it was designed.
