Mystery wire connector near header

So i was recently putting new exhaust gaskets on my car and today i thought i had everything put together, i labeled everything except this wire i guess and for the love of me i cant figure out what its for, or where it goes, i think it could have been something to do with my AIR tubes but im not sure, it got melted cause i didnt even know about it and i have driven the car since and i need to know what it is so i know if i have to go to the JY tomorrow and grab a connector. heres a pic

Its on the drivers side

hey bud,
Have to believe that would be your coolant temperature sender wire! I see it is unhooked in the picture also. But I was just looking at my instrument panel wire diagram and dk green wire is coolant temp.

It connects to the little brass fitting on the side of the head. You can see it in the pic. It kind of slides on sideways.

That's the sender for the dash temperature gage. It is different from the coolant temperature sender, as you properly noted.
