A/C problems. Works for a little bit and then stops???

Axle/Gears: 2.73
A/C problems. Works for a little bit and then stops???
I just bought a 91 Camaro RS 305 TBI car. I am having an air conditioner issue with it. When I first start it up, the A/C blows cold almost immediately (good thing, I know) but then about a few minutes later it quits blowing cold air and doesn't come back on. I have to turn the car off and restart it and then it does the same thing again. Anyone have any ideas? I have pretty much ruled out it being low on freon cause of the instant cold air. It seems to keep blowing cold if I just let the car idle. It's 100 degrees here today and it's driving me nutty. Please help. Thanks.
